Cale gathered his thoughts when he found out that Ho Song Yi and Dokgo Chang were both trying to save CJS. Raon commented to Sui that his human and CH were acting weird, but corrected it since even Sui was strange too. Cale leaned against the tree trunk and crossed his arms, having decided to watch the 2 groups for now.
Dokgo Chang scoffed and said to Elder Ho that although he (Dokgo Chang) might not know much about politics and was the kind of guy who blindly swung his sword, he at least knew how the world went. He pulled out his sword from the ground as he angrily stated that it was the Nine Great Schools who requested that CJS be designated as a Murim Public Enemy.
In particular, it was the Beggars’ Sect and the Wudang Sect who first mentioned the idea. These two sects belonged to the Nine Great Schools. The Wudang Sect was one of the bigshots in the Nine Great Schools along with the Shaolin Temple. It was also one of the schools, along with the Mount Hua Sect and the Kunlun Sect, that had a fairly deep history in its pursuit of the Dao.
Cale also had the same knowledge as Dokgo Chang that it was the Beggars’ Sect that spearheaded CJS being designated as a Murim Public Enemy. Dokgo Chang taunted Elder Ho, asking if he was really going to save Noble Warrior Choi with those novices. At being called novices, the young sect leader of the Beggars’ Sect, the Buddhist monk, and the Taoist ascetic all frowned.
The monk murmured a Buddhist scripture as he stared at Dokgo Chang. Wi talked to Cale via Chi Hidden Voice, introducing the monk as one of the best promising talents in the Shaolin Temple. He was known as Jeong Hye, famous for having an aggressive disposition despite being a Buddhist. Just then, one of the two young people behind Dokgo Chang stepped forward.
He called Dokgo Chang as uncle and said that he would stop the novices. Wi introduced to Cale again this guy. He was Dokgo Ryeong, the successor of the Dokgo Clan patriarch. He possessed an outstanding talent that his position in the murim world was comparable to the Seven Dragons and Five Phoenixes. For reference, Monk Jeong Hye was one of the Seven Dragons.
The Good Faction had a lot of outstanding and promising talents who were predicted to dominate the next era, and the leading one among them were those called as the Seven Dragons and Five Phoenixes. Cale did not care much about them as he did not regard this info as important at the moment. He deemed Elder Ho as more important.
But Cale was amazed at Chief Eunuch Wi who was like an encyclopedia. Cale continued to watch as a spectator. A person dressed as a Taoist stepped forward, calling Dokgo Ryeong as the ‘novice’ who used righteousness and chivalry as an excuse. The young man next to Dokgo Ryeong drew his sword in anger.
Jeong Hye, the monk from the Shaolin Temple, snorted and said, “Amitabha. If you want to fight, go ahead. It will be alms.” Cale was amazed at the monk who used the Buddhist chant ‘Amitabha’ and replaced the Buddhist practice of ‘asking for alms’ for ‘asking for a fight.’ As he expected, the people in the murim world really liked to fight.
But he thought that it would be a good thing if some of these murim people were on his side, especially those promising talents who were cherished by their schools or clans. Cale’s eyes sparkled at the thought. Meanwhile, a vicious atmosphere rose as it seemed like a fight was about to start. Elder Ho thought that he needed to stop the 2 groups.
But he was mentally cursing everyone for not trying to have a calm and peaceful conversation. He wondered if it was okay to tell the royalty (Kim Hae-il) here about everything. Dokgo Ryeong shouted to his uncle that he would take care of the monk, and the monk replied, “Oh, what did you say? Amitabha Buddha, please know that this apostate monk will give an education as a form of alms.”
Dokgo Ryeong snapped back at the crazy apostate for using the education word. But Dokgo Chang told everyone to stop. There was a threatening force on his voice, so everyone became silent. Elder Ho acknowledged that Dokgo Chang had grown stronger, perhaps even stronger than the Dokgo Clan patriarch.
Elder Ho had to dissuade everyone immediately or there would be blood. He tried to say something, but someone else spoke first. A calm voice filled the air, “That is right. I ask everyone here to please stop.” Silence followed in the forest as all the people here felt an immense pressure. Dokgo Chang had always given off or felt an immense pressure in his life, but this was the first time he experienced something like this.
A suffocating pressure that seemed to squeeze his entire body from all sides. He had never felt it from the clan patriarch nor his master. It was an aura that dominated everything. He turned his head to look at the source of this pressure. He saw the man with a small physique, wearing blue indigo clothes. That man was called Young Master Kim.
Cale called out to Elder Ho, and Dokgo Chang could see the sweat on Elder Ho’s forehead. Elder Ho seemed to be affected by the immense pressure too like him. Young Master Kim was unaffected by the pressure and appeared relaxed. He walked towards the two groups, and the area around him felt like his territory.
His dominating aura enveloped everything. Dokgo Chang wondered if the Heavenly Demon or the Murim Alliance leader could create such an absolute pressure. Cale put his hands on Elder Ho’s shoulders and questioned why the Beggars’ Sect proposed to designate CJS as a Murim Public Enemy. Elder Ho thought that he was wrong for assuming that the Fist King was escorting Young Master Kim.
He began his explanation. The GED were currently trying to catch the Sword Demon. If they caught him, they would surely kill him. Dokgo Chang shouted that it was nonsense as it was the iron rule that those designated as Rank 3 Murim Public Enemy must not be killed. But he stopped when he realized something.
He asked Elder Ho if the aim of the Beggars’ Sect was not the designation as a Murim Public Enemy. Elder Ho confirmed his words, saying that their aim was the Rank 3 one. That way, the Good Faction would not think of killing the Sword Demon. Doing so would be going against the Murim Alliance.
And even the Evil Faction could not touch someone known to have stolen a treasure of the Murim Alliance unless they want to fully fight the Good Faction. Dokgo Chang countered that the Murim Alliance announced that Noble Warrior Choi killed its members. Elder Ho hesitated on how to answer that, so someone else answered.
It was a woman dressed as a Taoist ascetic who spoke with a gentle voice that the Five Great Clans had proposed that. In exchange for designating CJS as a Rank 3, the Five Great Clans would create the reason for making the Sword Demon a Murim Public Enemy. It was public knowledge that the Sword Demon did not get along well with the Five Great Clans.
Wi introduced her to Cale as Un Seon, one of the Five Phoenixes and a promising talent among the Good Faction, known for her outstanding body and footwork techniques. She was an ascetic predicted to succeed in using the Kunlun Sect’s Great Eight Styles of the Dragon in the Clouds, a technique that resembled a dragon crossing the clouds. In addition, she was rumored to be the top three among the Seven Dragons and Five Phoenixes.
Cale recalled that beyond Kunlun was Xinjiang where the Demon Sect was located. The Demon Sect was a group who treated the Heavenly Demon like a god and lived under the law that only the strong should be respected. The Kunlun Sect existed as the shield and the last line of defense for the Good Faction, holding in check the forces that wanted to unify the murim world.
(A note to avoid confusion: Heavenly Demon and the Demon Sect are different from the Blood Demon and the Blood Cult. The Blood Cult is NOT a part of the Demon Sect. And the Heavenly Demon and Blood Demon are two different people. Also, they are all of the human race, not actual demons. Demon is just a fancy title.)
That was why Cale had no choice but to pass by Kunlun when he goes to the Demon Sect. Un Seon then stepped forward and asked Dokgo Chang to tell the truth. But she glanced at Cale’s group and suggested to let them go their way. But Cale replied, “I believe it would be difficult for that” as he lightly spread out his fan and fanned himself.
The cool breeze brushed his cheeks, making him feel quite good. Indeed, he felt good right now, because if he did well, he would get people he could use. Cale said that he would listen too, and Un Seon tried to refuse it, reasoning out that this was a matter of the Good Faction. But Cale declared, “Choi Jung Soo is my friend. My best friend.”
The 2 groups were surprised, and Cale was pleased with their reactions. He wanted them to think that his group were on the same side as them. That way, they would work hard to find CJS for him. However, one more person walked forward, surprising Cale as he folded his fan and tried to stop that person.
It was CH who declared that he was CJS’s uncle. After saying what he had to say, CH looked around and clenched his fist. He had two reasons for moving. One was that he could not stay still after seeing these people wanting to save CJS. The second was to create a justification for Cale who wanted to drag them into his group and use them.
CH briefly made eye contact with Beacrox before adding that even though he looked like this, he was quite old. Elder Ho and Dokgo Chang both asked if it was Rejuvenation or Martial Body Reborn. But (boomer) CH did not know what those words meant, so he just stood there calmly.
Cale thought that this was a good situation. There was someone here who was a relative of CJS, so those 2 groups would have no choice but to let Cale’s group join. He then asked in a slightly less friendly tone on why CJS was being pursued by the GED. And after some explanation from the 2 groups, he fully understood the situation.
CJS had the Heavenly Sword, a martial arts book of the Sword Emperor who was said to be the best martial arts master for nearly 500 years. In addition, he also had the Perpetual Snow Ginseng, a one-of-a-kind elixir in the world. Cale smiled as he thought that it was to be expected of CJS. Raon remarked that his expression brightened.
