Terms used in this chapter:
Evil Alliance – a union of groups from the Evil Faction. If the Good Faction has the Murim Alliance, the Evil Faction has the Evil Alliance.
Killing Sect – elite assassination group of the Evil Faction. I previously translated this as ‘Salmun.’
Murder Demon – aka Killing Demon. Female elderly leader of the Killing Sect. Actual human and not of the demon race, okay? Murim people are secretly chuuni.

Cale stared with a frown at Elder Ho, questioning Elder Ho’s earlier statement that the Sword Saint would come tomorrow. The Sword Saint recognized the Beggars’ Sect members, so Elder Ho greeted him. The other people in the inn who were from the Good Faction also bowed in greeting too, as the Sword Saint was the one of the highest leaders in the Good Faction. But the Sword Saint ignored the greetings and asked Elder Ho why he was blocking the path.
Elder Ho tried to say something, but the young man next to the Sword Saint stepped forward. The young man asked the first inn employee to give him a room. The inn employee nervously replied that there was no vacant rooms now. The young man then approached two wanderer-looking people who were eating, and asked them to vacate their rooms.
The wanderers complained that even if he was from the Namgung Clan or the Good Faction, he should not be threatening people like this. The young man had a puzzled expression, and explained that he was not threatening them. He took out a few gold coins and put it on the table, saying that he would pay. He also offered to treat them to the most expensive drinks here.
Cale looked at the young man with interest. The young man continued that his group had rushed back from Sichuan Province, so they had slept outside. That was why he now wanted to wash up and rest comfortably here. The wanderers were shaken as the offered gold coins was equivalent to several months of their earnings.

Fist King also said the said thing to Cale, but warned that the Dokgo Clan members were acting strange. Cale could see Dokgo Ryeong clenching his fists. Dokgo Chang seemed calm, but had a serious look in his gaze.
The inn employee asked Wi if he could guide the three guests first, and Wi said it was okay as he would ask his nephew to guide them instead. Wi asked the second inn employee, his ‘nephew,’ to guide them, and secretly told Cale that they should avoid this place for now. Cale silently agreed as he had a hunch that it would be troublesome to get involved with the Namgung Clan given their attitude.
For him who had to save CJS, the Namgung Clan was an enemy. Cale’s group moved, but was stopped when the Sword Saint called out to Elder Ho and the Dokgo Clan, questioning why they came here. He glanced at Dokgo Ryeong who avoided his vicious gaze. The Sword Saint demanded that he had to hear their reason, whether they were here for the Sword Demon or for another reason.
The moment the word ‘Sword Demon’ was spoken, the inn fell silent. Someone laughed out loud, and Cale had a bad feeling. He tried to find the source of the laughter, and saw Ron with a strange smile as he looked at the laughing person.
Cale wondered if Ron was interested in the laughing person and saw a person sitting alone in the corner with a veil covering their face. That person took off their veil, and someone recognized them. She was Murder Demon from the Evil Alliance. The Evil Alliance was the Evil Faction’s counterpart to the Good Faction’s Murim Alliance.
Murder Demon belonged to the best assassin group in the Evil Alliance, the Killing Sect. She was its leader, and the only one whose face was known. But no one could kill her just because they knew her face. Before becoming the sect leader, she had killed 10,000 people. Her 10,000th kill was the previous leader of the Killing Sect. She took up his position afterwards.
Murder Demon was over sixty years old, and she muttered that the Good Faction brats were very noisy. She glanced at the Sword Saint and told him to hurry up to their rooms. The last of the 3 Namgung Clan members shouted furiously at her disrespect, but stopped when the Sword Saint affectionately called him “Yoo Hak-ah.”
Yoo Hak called the Sword Saint as ‘grandfather,’ and shut his mouth. The Sword Saint laughed at Murder Demon and asked if the Sword Demon had defeated the Killing Sect. After laughing, he headed to the inn’s second floor. Murder Demon just brightly smiled and no longer paid attention to the Sword Saint. The Sword Saint beckoned at Elder Ho to follow, and Elder Ho sighed.
Elder Ho told Cale via Chi Hidden Voice that he would go first, and Cale was puzzled why Elder Ho was reporting to him. Elder Ho continued that he would get information for Young Master Kim. Cale hesitated for a moment before telling Elder Ho that there was no need to hide it (Cale’s identity. Are you sure of that, Cale? Elder Ho has a huge misunderstanding about you, hahaha).
Cale thought that Elder Ho was smart and would not tell the Sword Saint about him being CJS’ close friend or CH being CJS’s uncle. Cale suddenly felt anxious, so he told Elder Ho that he should distinguish what he should say or not. He ended his words with a gentle smile, and Elder Ho gulped in nervousness. Because Cale had said it openly and not through Chi Hidden Voice that he thought Young Master Kim could naturally do.
It was like a warning to him. The Sword Saint glanced alternately at Cale and Elder Ho before continuing to move. Namgung Yoo Hak remained behind, so the young man who offered gold earlier told Yoo Hak to order food for them. Yoo Hak politely replied, “Yes, Hyung-nim.”
Wi followed his ‘nephew,’ the second inn employee who was actually an Eastern Bureau member. Sui asked Cale if he was coming. Cale could see the Dokgo Clan and the promising talents conversing with Yoo Hak. Pokedex Wi introduced Yoo Hak to Cale via Chi Hidden Voice. Namgung Yoo Hak was the second son of the Namgung Clan leader. He was the younger brother of the clan successor.
Wi added that the Dokgo and Namgung clans did not have a good relationship. The Dokgo Clan’s power began to decline when their main business went bankrupt. A new business appeared in place of their failed business, and the owner of the new business was the Namgung Clan. The Namgung Clan asserted that the process was clean, but no one in the murim world believed this. Since there was no evidence, people could only be suspicious.
Cale nodded, though he thought that it was not important to him. Wi continued that the Dokgo Clan could only grind their teeth at the Namgung Clan. And because both families were famous for using heavy swords, the Namgung Clan gained an advantage too. Thus, the Namgung and Dokgo Clans had been bitter enemies since then.
Cale asked Wi if this would cause an incident, and Wi shook his head, replying that with Dokgo Chang present, there would be no incident. There was also Murder Demon here, so everyone would be just having a silent war of nerves. Cale wondered if no one would really fight in this inn. He recalled the promising talents in his group.
And right in time, a loud noise of something breaking was heard. Dokgo Ryeong shouted to his Uncle Dokgo Chang that he could not tolerate it any longer. Dokgo Ryeong screamed, “How dare you insult my family?” Namgung Yoo Hak retorted, “Ha? Insult? You have a very high sense of victimhood! With such a lowly attitude, conversation is impossible!”
Cale sighed and did not look back. He wondered why these murim people liked to fight in inns. Yoo Hak then spoke, “Why are those who have a bright future in the Good Faction working together with those who do not know the laws? Please dine with us.” Raon reported to Cale that Yoo Hak was sneering at Ryeong and kindly talking to Un Seon (Yoo Hak’s flirting to Un Seon).
Cale thought that there was at least one trash in a family. For the Namgung Clan, it seemed to be Yoo Hak. And then Cale recalled he was the trash of his family. He shut his eyes as he heard another sound of something breaking. He heard someone gasp and Raon shouting human in surprise. Cale got the chills and looked back.
CH had drawn his sword and tried to stop something, while Sui sighed and stretched out his hand. Cale was surprised to see that chopsticks had flown towards him. The chopsticks had stopped in the air with a small vibration. Raon proudly told Cale that he had stopped it with his mana. At that moment, the sound of a chair falling was heard.
It was Murder Demon who looked at Cale with astonishment. Silence reigned in the inn, and Cale could feel Raon touching his back with his chubby front paws. Raon giggled, “Hihi! I stopped it well! Human, praise me! I will protect you who have become weak!” Cale looked at Murder Demon whose eyes were trembling, and realized that there was a big misunderstanding.
In the world of martial arts that Cale knew, stopping chopsticks or swords in midair without using one’s hands was something that only a master in the higher realms (like Unrestrained, Profound, and Nature Realms) could do.
